Your experience also echoes with the standard language ideology, which assumes that there is a "standard" way of speaking a language. Instead of valuing all ways of speaking, standard language ideology ties to the power pyramid and honors certain people's way of speaking as standards. This equips with a deficit view and is definitely not a good approach for Eb students to be educated.
