Unit Proposal (due by 2:15pm Friday)

This should be a 2-3 single-spaced page written document proposing your 5-lesson unit.
Part 1: Classroom Context
Describe your focal classroom and students. Include a brief description of the program model, curricular foci and pedagogical approaches, language policy, students’ national and linguistic backgrounds, levels of English proficiency, and other relevant information about their backgrounds/ interests/ needs/stories/ lives that will inform your teaching choices. Include your needs assessment results as an appendix if you did one. (1 single-spaced page)
Part 2: Proposal
Propose a theme for your unit. Include a description of the theme and topics you plan to explore, language and content goals, and the authentic assessment you will use to assess whether students have met these goals. Write a brief rationale for your choices and how they relate to what you know about the students, the existing curriculum, and best practices in TESOL and content-based instruction (1 single-spaced page).
Note: This is a proposal. When Lesson Plan 1 is due, you will also submit a revised overview for the rest of your unit which includes materials and theoretical rationale.
