Psychology is a broad field that concerns itself with the study of human thoughts, feelings, and behavior. The goal of this course is to equip students with the skills necessary to be sophisticated producers and consumers of scientific research. First, students will learn the techniques, tools, and methods that psychologists use to design, analyze, disseminate, and critique psychological research. Then, they will apply that knowledge to conduct their own research and present it to faculty and peers. The course will consist of lectures, discussions, and in-class lab and stats activities. It is also a writing intensive (W) course designed to help students develop their writing skills by writing research reports and using APA style.
