Welcome to Ec 181: Seminar in Development Economics
YOUR ASSIGNMENT FOR WEEK 1 IS BELOW (SEE WEEK OF SEPT 3 - SEPT 9)
I'm looking forward to meeting you on Tuesday September 4 at 1:15pm in K218. This first week is introductory, and we'll be finished by 4pm. (I can't guarantee an ending time for subsequent weeks, but we can discuss whether starting a bit earlier -- e.g., 1pm instead of 1:15 -- is feasible).
The 3 required texts should be in the bookstore, and you may well be able to find used copies there or on Amazon or elsewhere. They are:
Perkins, Radelet, Lindauer and Block, Economics of Development
Rodrik, One Economics, Many Recipes
Ray (1998) Development Economics (there was only one edition of this text)
OFFICE HOURS: Monday 1:30pm - 3:00pm, Thursdays 10:00am - 11:30am, or by appointment
GENERAL ENCOURAGEMENT: Please be in touch with me by email if you find something that is confusing or unclear in any assignment (everyone will benefit!). Even more importantly, don't hesitate to be in touch if you feel that something's not working for you in the seminar or you're slipping behind. If you have any suggestions/concerns/comments about the seminar you'd like to convey to me anonymously, please feel free to do so using the link below.
