I also really enjoyed the Mike Mena video. It was so sad to hear about "Chinese Restaurant Syndrome" and learn about the ways that people in the US may (consciously, or unconsciously) perpetuate racist stereotypes. I agree that the emphasis on standard English is of detriment to our society, and allows for the preservation of racial boundaries. I really enjoyed learning about the Language as a Resource ideology. It seems like the most promising ideology, and something we as educators should strive for. This class has really emphasized the importance of spotlighting multilingualism, and showing kids that all languages can have value in the classroom.
