I really enjoyed this weeks readings, especially learning about all the ways plants can sense and respond to the world around them. The section of Braiding Sweetgrass which highlighted the study of picked grass was particularly interesting to me. I think we tend to view ourselves as separate from the natural world, something that can lead to many problems. It is nice to know that there are ways in which the presence of the human species allows for a more balanced ecosystem. There are many ways that plants can sense the world that we either cannot or do not think about. As we navigate the world it is really valuable to consider many different ways of knowing, not just the empirical science that was brought on by the enlightenment.
