Option #1: Critical Reflection Essay on Environmental Racism and Environmental Justice
Your essay should aim to strike a balance between your personal perspective, and the requirements of good academic practice and rigorous thinking. This includes developing a perspective, or line of reasoning, demonstrating that you have read (and listened) to information and reflected on its relevance, and writing about the link between your experiences/practice and topic content. Content may include assigned readings and additional resources (other readings, videos, postings and other forms of digital content), class discussions, presentations of guest speakers, your relevant experiences, etc. The length of each essay should be 3-4 pages (double spaced format, approx. 750-900 words not including notes, references, charts, images, etc.).

Option #2: Advanced Preview of Final Paper
This option provides an advanced preview of your final research paper (due December 18). The format, length, and purpose of your submission may vary but should include a clear research topic/focus or question, why this topic/focus/question is relevant, a detailed, annotated discussion of your sources (class presentations, class visits, your internship experiences, secondary and primary research materials, etc.), and a statement of your proposed findings/conclusions.
