Welcome to Experimentation for Engineering Design Lab! This course introduces students to measurement systems, instruments, statistical analysis, measurement errors, and their use in experimental design, planning, execution, and data analysis. Techniques of hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and single and multivariable linear regression are covered. Most importantly, the course prepares students to analyze real-world data, and to critically evaluate others’ data analyses (e.g., in the academic literature, in the professional context, and in the news). Students will design and complete their own experiment, and analyze their results over the course of the semester.

Students will also gain experience effectively communicating their work through writing (via lab reports, oral presentations, and a final project).

My goals for this course are for you to learn and to succeed, and I will do all I can to support your learning process. This course will require active learning on your part.
