How does the nervous system produce behavior? This course will begin to answer that question by introducing students to the observations and methods that have contributed to our current understanding. We will begin by learning about the brain’s fundamental unit, the neuron, and then work our way up to discussing neural circuits involved in complex behaviors, like learning and memory. Although there will be an emphasis on non-human animal models, we will also discuss human examples and clinical implications.
