CHIN004B Second Year Chinese is a continuation from CHIN003B, the first semester of the Second Year Chinese. This course aims to help students continue building a solid foundation for the four basic skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing—in an interactive and communicative learning environment. As the course emphasizes on accuracy in pronunciation and speaking, students will receive immediate corrective feedback during class practices and drills. Since the class will be conducted extensively in Chinese, students are required to preview course materials according to the weekly schedule posted on Moodle in order to be able to actively participate in the class activities. Besides the mandatory individual oral practice once a week, students are also encouraged to use the office hours to practice individually. By the end of the semester, students are expected to attain the Advanced Low level of proficiency (ACTFL Oral Proficiency Guidelines). A description of speakers at AL level can be found on ACTFL website: http://www.actfl.org/publications/guidelines-and-manuals/actfl-proficiencyguidelines-2012/english/speaking
