Chinese Lunch Table: Chinese Lunch Table is another good opportunity to practice your Chinese with teachers and other students, and it is strongly recommended. It will be held on Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30 pm starting on Sept.23 in the Science Tent. Chinese language table sessions will be held in the Science Tent until fall break, after which it will be moved to the Open Meeting Space in Sharples Dining Hall. Prior to the end of fall break, in the event that there is inclement weather that does not allow for use of the Science Tent, Chinese language table will be held in the Open Meeting Space in Sharples Dining Hall and students will be notified by e-mail. Please do come to enjoy learning the language in a more relaxed setting!
• Chinese Language Study Skills Session: At the beginning of each academic year, the Chinese section holds a language study skills session to provide an opportunity for students to meet all the members of the Chinese section and to hear from instructors and current or former students about useful strategies and tips on how best to study Chinese language at Swarthmore. This session will take place on Friday, Sept.9, 2022 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Science Tent.


Study Abroad Information Session: On Friday, Sept. 16, 2022, 12:30 to 1:30 pm in the Science Tent we will hold a study abroad information session to introduce programs in China and Taiwan where you can study Chinese. We will invite students who have recently returned from various programs to share their experiences. Please come if you are curious about learning more about study-abroad and would like to make it part of your academic plan!

Trip to Philadelphia’s Chinatown for Dim Sum: On Saturday, October 29, 2022 we will offer a trip to Philadelphia’s Chinatown to have Cantonese dim sum. Join the group for a Chinese cultural and culinary experience where you can use your Chinese language skills and have fun with instructors and classmates. There will be a sign-up period for interested students. Stay tuned for more details!
